Little Boxes 2019
About this event
Since there will not be a Little Boxes event iin 2019 during the upcoming Black Friday weekend, on October 17th at 6PM, at the Travel Portland office, we'd like to chat about a new partnership between Built Oregon (Little Boxes owner and operator) and Travel Portland, that will result in a new edition of Little Boxes, to take place in October of 2020 (“new LB”).
Some key points we'll be discussing:
Travel Portland and Built Oregon would co-present and co-promote New LB in October 2020 under our new partnership.
While there will not be a traditional Little Boxes event and raffle this 2019 Black Friday weekend, we are working on leveraging our (Travel Portland, Built Oregon, Little Boxes) online and social networks, and our existing app to promote shopping local over that weekend and amplifying your store promotions. Our goal is to try and support all of you as this transition occurs.
As noted earlier, the new LB will occur in October 2020 instead of Black Friday. The focus in doing so is to generate sales in a traditionally low revenue retail period, draw more tourists to Portland around a specific event, and to celebrate small retailers in the same manner that Travel Portland’s “Dining Month” celebrates restaurants every March.
In addition, the new LB would take place over a longer period of time and coincide with Built Oregon’s Built Festival which takes place in early October, enabling additional tie-ins with our many Oregon makers who have products in our stores. The traditional Little Boxes centerpieces, the raffle and app with a full featured map, would remain in place.
In addition, Travel Portland has also footed the bill, through June 2020, for PDX Little Boxes retailers to participate in their new Google Maps Program; a program developed in partnership with Locl, a Portland-based tech company specializing in Google Maps optimization and data. This program is designed to help Portland businesses like yours improve their presence in mobile web searches, connect more customers with their business, and drive more revenue.
Come join us on October 17th!!
And thank you SO much for your past support of this wonderful event. We believe in, and are inspired by, everything all of you do to support the local economy and companies. We truly believe this new partnership will preserve, enhance and expand the wonderful legacy of Little Boxes as a way to highlight the fabulous and unique small retailers of Portland.
