Our Accelerator Approach
We started Built Oregon with the simple vision – to make Oregon the leader in consumer product innovation and development. But becoming a leader requires laying the foundations of support, knowledge and resources upon which companies can engage. Built Oregon launched the country’s first not for profit (no cost + no equity taken) consumer product accelerator in June of 2019.
The accelerator is a collaboration with our sister organization, PIE (Portland Incubator Experiment). The program focuses on breaking down the startup mythology concept and working with founders to define how they envision success and connecting them to mentorship, resources, peer to peer connections, and mental health support to help them achieve it.
Cohort
With experience in brewing, winemaking, agriculture, inn-keeping, meatpacking, writing books, painting, horticulture, and the ancient art of coopering (building oak barrels), we've been at this as a family for over 50 years, carrying on the work of this area's first non-indigenous settlers, who tilled this fertile land to grow hops, hay, oats, wheat, and plums. In the modern era, wine, filberts, pears, apples, heirloom vegetables, cider, and some really cool art projects have come to life here on historic Springbrook Farm, our family home.
At Polk Apothecary, we are committed to providing an exceptional skincare experience for our clients. Our tailored facials, coupled with a consistent skincare routine using our range of high-quality products, ensure that each client leaves our care with a radiant glow and improved skin health.
As active participants of the world we live in we strive to create meaningful, useful products that are genuinely natural, add value to people’s lives, and help bring awareness of our role in the natural environment. With a focus on creating a simple and pure product, we make Portland Bee Balm with beeswax from Pacific Northwest hives, adding a select handful of carefully sourced organic and local ingredients. Then we wrap the balms in real wood instead of processed paper and present them in lovingly handcrafted reusable or recyclable displays.
Range Revolution is the world's first luxury leather goods company built entirely around regenerative agriculture principles. We've created what didn't exist: a traceable supply chain that sources hides directly from American ranches practicing regenerative agriculture – hides that would otherwise be discarded – and transforms them into heirloom-quality bags, luggage, and accessories.
Gay Awakening Coffee was built on a mission to serve quality coffee for quality humans. Reminding you every morning to be yourself! Creating something they wished to see growing up: one that’s loud, proud, and intentionally queer.
Cultured Kindness prides itself on quality ingredients. Their cheese is made with fair-trade, organic cashews. They use coconut oil sourced from companies that do not use animal labor. Whenever possible, they partner with local farms to source fresh, organic ingredients. Their cheeses and cheesecakes are soy-free, gluten-free, and palm oil-free.
Breathing is severe, and we do it without thinking twice about what's in the air, especially when a candle is burning. We never question what chemicals might be filling the space. Instead, we examine what scent it is that instantly brings us joy or creates a mental note of never purchasing that brand or scent because of the experience. We use the highest quality oils paired with a wooden wick to eliminate soot and 100% soy wax for longevity. Our products create experiences, from purchasing a finished candle to pouring one in your own home with your loved ones for family night.
REMCO Tools was founded to provide a zero-compromise solution to quickly, comfortably, and elegantly service bicycles of almost any shape and size. Pairing design and function, we have created the Bike Lift, a first-of-its-kind product for cycling enthusiasts, professional mechanics, and bike shops.
Dappled Tonic is one of the few truly craft tonic waters on the market.
Let’s raise a glass to better choices! From the heart of the craft beverage scene in Oregon comes this line of flavorful local tonic water, crafted by distillers who created a tonic to enhance your cocktails. Their tonic waters can be enjoyed as a refreshing non-alcoholic option or paired seamlessly with any craft spirit.
Heck is an independent non-alcoholic craft brewery based in Portland, Oregon.
They make brews using traditional brewing techniques along with emerging fermentation science, allowing them to create complex, flavorful non-alcoholic brews that still taste full and familiar like beer.
Ritual Glaze began as a 100% female owned and operated startup based in Portland, Oregon. Our small team was the first ever special effect glaze company, led by founder Sarah Bingham.
Portland Design Works is a small but mighty crew of bike-loving humans who create beautiful, simple gear for everyday riding. Since 2008, they've been designing products that inspire people to hop on their bikes and just go.
Howl at the Spoon reinventing sauce for the modern eater—one perfectly portioned pouch at a time.
They craft small-batch, single-serve sauces designed for busy food lovers who want real flavor without the fridge clutter. Whether meal-prepping, working through a lunch break, road-tripping, or cooking for one, their sauces bring chef-level flavor with zero preservatives, zero waste, and zero bottle guilt.
